INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT FOR NIDO STUDENT. CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT
A Designer at Heart is in charge of the design of communal areas for a student accommodation in Bristol, UK. The scheme will handover in September 2021
For this reason, we chose the TV lounge as the feature area using a round shape that recalled the balloons flying during the festival. To maintain this mood throughout the interior we also played with colour blocking and used a different main tone in every space. The choices were again based on a cultural factor. We took inspiration from the façade colours used by the architect who in turn picked them to evoke the famous graffiti scattered around the city. The complex is structured around a large open lounge - with industrial exposed ceilings - to which all the other small rooms are connected.
The Bristol Project was a refurbishment for which we had numerous inspirations. A Designer at Heart designed open plan reception and social space, back of house (BOH), main lounge with games area, TV snug, and informal study. Quiet study room, gym & yoga room, laundry, communal toilets and Private Dining Room (PDR). The whole communal area designed covered 408 sqm. Through our design, we aimed at creating a story that conveyed indoor the surrounding local culture to give the students a unique experience. We used colours and shapes to recall Bristol’s famous annual International Balloon Fiesta which is a proper feast for the eyes.
