Special Features: double-height wall with colour blocking to draw attention away from the TV. Water fountain to avoid plastic waste. Freestanding reception desk. Extensive use of real plants. Edgy and artsy style inspired by the artwork. A big gaming lounge and plenty of flexible seating + sockets everywhere to allow study points (even in the server area). Bespoke workshop tables along with the window in Smile Plastics, a sustainable material obtained by recycling yogurt pots, with integrated sockets.
The Zernike Project is a new building developed exclusively as a Student Accommodation. The scheme includes 619 beds and a 729.5 sqm area for communal spaces. The original concept for this development came from the Dutch Expressionism and a local artist called Hendrik Werkman. The building's external façade displayed coloured glazed window in a colour scheme used by Werkman for its painting. So, on the inside, A Designer at Heart used the same colour palette and added black elements to contrast it and bring an industrial feel to it. This was the first Project for Nido and we worked closely to define the brand values of Wellbeing, Sustainability, Design & Tech, and Community that we translated into interior space, textures furniture, and feel. Sustainability, Design & Tech, and Community that we translated into interior space, textures furniture, and feel.
